APPS Manufacturing has the following features:

APPS3i – Manufacturing has been logically divided into 7 modules. These modules can either be implemented individually or in conjunction with any other module. This modular approach allows companies to structure the software as per their requirements and use a “bolt-on” approach to keep adding features.

Below is a brief description of each module and its main features.

 Merchandizing Module

Merchandizing is a key activity in any organization. It includes conceptualizing a product/range, designing, sourcing and ensuring that the final product reaches the customer on time.

This activity is all the more difficult in the apparel context due to the seasonal and fashion centric nature of this industry. New designs/colors have to be constantly created and converted into products that can be delivered to the customers in time.

APPS3i has the following features that helps companies better monitor the merchandizing activity. This includes:

o Style/Spec sheet creation
o Costing the style using historical information
o Creation of Time and Action calendar (milestones) for each activity: These activities can be style samples, size sets, fabric testing, order placement.
o Production and Purchase tracking: this can be linked with the raw material and finished goods vendors.
o Final Cost sheet: reviews the planned vs. actual costing of a style
o Merchandizing Groups: groups of people can be grouped together so that they can track their information. For e.g. Children’s department might have a different process than Ladies department and hence would want to track information differently.
o Alerts: Users can be assigned specific tasks by other authorized users and alerts can be sent out depending on the time and action and deadlines.
o Work Order Creation: merchandizers can create work orders that can be distributed to vendors/internal production/purchase departments.
o Sales Analysis: analysis of sales information based on product categories, season, location etc. etc.

 Procurement Module

Once a work order is created. Companies can either place a ready goods order to a vendor or place the order for raw materials. The procurement module tracks this process. It includes the following features:
o Ready Goods Order: ready goods orders can be placed with vendors, these can also be uploaded to the internet to enable vendors to download the purchase orders.
o Fabric/Leather Raw Material PO: users can also place raw material order for unprocessed fabric/ leather. These Pos can be linked with the work orders and any modification in the work order gets automatically reflected in the requirement sheets.
o Trims PO: Users can create PO for trims such as thread, lace, sequins etc. etc. these get verified against actual requirements to ensure the correct quantities are purchased
o Goods Receipt Note: Users can access the quality control reports of goods received to ensure that the goods that have arrived are what was ordered.
o International Pos: All purchase orders support multiple currencies and can be created to conform to international business requirements (such as duties, customs documentation etc.)

 Inventory Management Module

The apparel/made-ups industry is seasonal in nature, therefore inventory management is critical.

APPS3i inventory management module has the following features:

o Issue/Receipt of Goods: All finished goods/raw material issue/receipt notes are generated.
o Stock Reports: Stock reports can be generated based on location, companies, vendors, stores, bin no.s etc. etc. Users can also categorize inventory as A-grade, B-grade etc. Identify slow moving, fast moving items. Do ABC analysis.
o Stock Reconciliation: Reconcile stock with vendors or job workers (where raw material is supplied, such as dyeing and printing mills)
o Stock Valuation: Using LIFO, FIFO etc.
o Interface with Warehousing/barcoding software
o Ready Stock Reports: Generate ready stock reports, do soft/hard allocation of finished goods to specific orders.
o Soft/Hard Reservation of Raw Material Stock: APPS3i has multiple levels of stock allocation depending on the flexibility required by the company. So companies can prioritize raw materials based on delivery dates, customers etc.

 Production Planning and Control Module

The production planning and control module allows users to do fixed capacity planning, determine machine utilization, perform planned vs. actual production.

It includes the following features:

o Production Line Planning: Users can setup multiple manufacturing lines and specify types of machinery in each line. Then planned production styles can be “drag and dropped” onto these lines. The software will identify the production bottle-necks and alert if any delays are happening.
o Vendor Production Monitoring: Vendor production information can be uploaded through an interface file and analyzed for any problems.
o Raw Material Consumption: Raw material consumption against any work order can be tracked at each stage of the production process to determine any deviations in consumption from the standards.
o Critical Path Monitoring: The software identifies the critical path for the production process and sends out alerts if there is any slippage.
o Quality Control Reports: The quality controllers can key in easy-to-enter quality reports that can be summarized and analyzed (Pareto analysis etc.)
o Special Cutting and Lot management screens: APPS3i has special screens to monitor processes such as cutting and dye-lot management. These help companies achieve greater efficiency in this vital process.
o Summary Reports: Reports can be generated to review production efficiency on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Production incentive schemes can be tied in and productivity can be tracked over any time frame.

 Financial Accounting Module

The benefit of an integrated system is that the financial impact of each activity in the organization can be linked and tracked into financial accounts. So apart from the regular financial accounting features such as GL, P&L, Balance sheet, Aging etc. – APPS3i has linked each activity in the organization with accounts. Users can create cost centers that reflect the structure of the organization and information gets interfaced with accounts using this structure. Budgets can be created style-wise, work order wise, department wise, activity wise. This flexibility provides a powerful tool for analyzing the financial impact of each process in the organization.

Some of the salient features of the financial accounting module are:
o Regular Financial accounting Reports: GL, P&L, Balance Sheet, aging, financial ratios etc.
o Purchase and Production linkage: all purchase and inventory issue/receipt can be reviewed and cross-checked against bills in accounts. All contractor payments can be tracked against actual work done in production.
o Cost Center Reports: Users can create cost centers that are linked to actual activities in the organization and do financial impact analysis.

 HR and Payroll Module

Specifically designed for the labor intensive apparel industry. Companies can monitor labor efficiency and track worker skill level.

o Employee training record: track employee skill sets and plan training accordingly
o Employee incentive scheme: tie in employee incentive schemes with actual operations (such as efficiency targets etc.) – which makes such schemes more effective
o Setup Deductions and Leave rules: Setup deduction and leave rules specific to a location, cost center or position.
o Monitor Cost Wise Manpower productivity: create units in the organization that can be evaluated for manpower productivity and planning – these can also be tied with the line planning where requirements can be matched with manpower availability.

 Invoicing and Shipping Module

Specifically designed module to handle the complex invoicing/shipping requirements for this industry where international trade is very high. Companies can track customs VAT credit and link international vendors/buyers through internet or dedicated EDI networks.

Features include:
o International Invoicing: can handle multiple currencies and conforms to international invoicing standards
o Packing Lists: generate packing lists with UPC codes, that can be interfaced with a warehousing solution to generate automatic inventory reports.
o Customs Documents: Generate customs documents such as GSP etc.
