Case Study
Apparel and Textile :
Challenge:Goyal Petro Fil Yarn (GPFY) is a leading yarn manufacturer in India’s textile hub of Ludhiana. GPFY was facing problems in tracking their purchase, sale, inventory and order processing information. The existing in-house developed application was only being used for invoicing and bill entry. No meaningful stock information or vendor information was available. In addition to this GPFY’s business was growing rapidly. New manufacturing locations were being added as well as the volume of business was growing at over 20% per annum.
Solution:RDPL did a complete study of the existing processes as well as future expansion plans of GPFY. RDPL developed and implemented a custom ERP application which tracked order receipt, purchase, stores as well as the production process at each stage. In addition to this interfaces were developed to upload data through EDI as well as integrated with the financial application (Tally). RDPL also assisted GPFY in selecting the appropriate hardware as well as upgraded the networking infrastructure in order to meet the growing computing needs.
Benefit:GPFY has been able to greatly streamline their order tracking and vendor management process. In addition to this, the web based application can be accessible from any of their manufacturing locations as well as outside. GPFY has been able to provide greater service levels to their customers through better inventory forecasting and management. Seeing the benefits, GPFY has further asked us to develop an HR and payroll application through which they will be able to determine worker-wise productivity and performance.
APPS™ Supply Chain Management :
WASANS – How Does a global apparel sourcing company service global customers based in Europe where vendors are spread all over asia.
Challenge:Wasans Overseas is a leather sourcing company. Wasans assists retailers in Europe in developing and sourcing high-end leather apparel from manufacturers in India and Bangladesh. Wasans customers were facing problems of delays and short-shipments due to lack of visibility on the status of production and shipments from the vendor organizations. In addition to this valuable time was lost due to the time taken to send information back and forth between vendors and the customers. Wasans merchandizers were spending a lot of time in simply gathering details from customers and vendors.
Solution:Wasans implemented the APPS™ -SCM solution. The style, purchase order, sampling, T&A and shipping tracking modules were implemented. Each customer and vendor was provided with a unique username/password to access the status of their orders through a website. Customers could enter or upload orders and vendors would periodically update the status of order based on pre-defined milestones. Online flash demos and Computer Based Training's allowed Wasans to quickly train their vendors in using the system.
Benefit:Wasans was able to reduce their average lead time of production orders by 10%. In addition to this customer satisfaction increased substantially because of timely information and ease of use. Wasans was able to increase its business by 40% in the first year of operationalizing the system. Vendors were able to get timely updates of their shipments and payments. This lead to greater customer and vendor loyalty.
